Grammys: Carrie Underwood, The Band Perry Win for Country Performances

Performances by Carrie Underwood and The Band Perry were the country genre’s best of this past year, says the Recording Academy.

Carrie Underwood’s “Something in the Water” and The Band Perry’s “Gentle on My Mind” won the Grammys for best Solo Performance and Best Duo/Group Performance.

Underwood’s song beat out Hunter Hayes’ “Invisible,” Miranda Lambert’s “Automatic,” Eric Church’s “Give Me Back My Hometown” and Keith Urban’s “Cop Car.” The Band Perry’s performance was deemed better than Miranda Lambert & Carrie Underwood’s “Somethin’ Bad,” Keith Urban & Eric Church’s “Raise ‘Em Up,” Tim McGraw & Faith Hill’s “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s” and Little Big Town’s “Day Drinking.”

Best Country Song, which was also announced during the Grammy Premiere telecast, went to Glen Campbell’s “I’m Not Gonna Miss You.”
