Rihanna, Kanye & McCartney’s “FourFiveSeconds” Hits Top 10 on Sales Chart

“FourFiveSeconds,” the new collaboration between Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney, is finally listed on iTunes, and it is listed in a solid position.

“FourFiveSeconds” is currently #9 on the digital retailer’s all-genre single sales chart. And because all “FourFiveSeconds” purchases are organic (it was not issued as part of an album pre-order) and the song’s awareness is still building, it is expected to continue rising as Sunday unfolds.

As part of the song’s sudden, yet aggressive launch strategy, label Roc Nation shipped “FourFiveSeconds” to pop, adult contemporary, hot adult contemporary, urban, urban adult contemporary and rhythmic radio Saturday night. Some iHeartMedia stations committed to giving the song hourly airplay until the weekend concludes.

Insofar as the song departs notably from Rihanna’s signature sound and also credits Kanye West and Paul McCartney as lead artists, active debate has emerged regarding where this song will fall within her discography. In fact, because Kanye West first teased the song last week and supposedly has multiple collaborations with McCartney on his upcoming album, some wondered whether it was actually recorded for his project.

In Tweeting, “First single right here—>,” Rihanna nonetheless suggested that “FourFiveSeconds” is indeed associated with her eagerly anticipated eighth studio album.
