Mark Ronson, Meghan Trainor Hit Top 10 at Hot AC; Kelly Clarkson Goes Top 20

The respective artists behind the hottest song in America and what will this week be crowned the hottest album in America both reach the top 10 of Mediabase’s latest hot adult contemporary airplay chart.

Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars),” which is currently enjoying its second week atop the Billboard Hot 100, rises to #8 on the official Hot AC airplay chart. Up six places, it commanded 3,867 spins during the January 11-17 tracking week.

The chart’s subsequent position now belongs to Meghan Trainor’s “Lips are Movin.” Cut from Trainor’s “Title,” which will rule this week’s album sales chart on the strength of nearly 200,000 sales, “Lips” claims the #9 position at Hot AC this week. It scored 3,598 weekly spins.

Other Hot AC movers:

— Kelly Clarkson’s “Heartbeat Song” debuts at #20 on the chart. The recipient of an hourly first day airplay promotion, the track received a total of 1,613 spins during its slightly abbreviated first week of availability (it came out on day two of the tracking week).

— Big Data’s “Dangerous (featuring Joywave)” enters the Top 25 at #24.

— Maroon 5’s “Sugar” rockets into the top 30 (and 40) this week. Up eighteen places, it grabs the #26 slot at Hot AC.

— Taylor Swift’s “Style” reaches #29 (+21).

— Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” enters the Top 40 at #34. Also new to the top 40 is Lilly Wood & Robin Schulz’ “Prayer in C” (#40).
