Ratings: “SNL” Falls for Martin Freeman, Charli XCX Episode

Lacking a proven, marquee draw, this weekend’s edition of “Saturday Night Live” was not expected to perform like a ratings juggernaut.

It did not, however, perform especially poorly by the standards of the current season.

Saturday’s episode, which featured host Martin Freeman and musical guest Charli XCX, drew a 3.9 overnight household rating. It meanwhile drew a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating in the twenty five markets with local people meters.

Last week’s episode, which featured higher-profile guests in James Franco and Nicki Minaj, grabbed a 4.4 overnight household rating with a 2.2 in the adults 18-49 demo.

Recent “SNL” episodes have, however, gone lower than this week’s broadcast. The 10/4 Sarah Silverman-Maroon 5 episode drew the same 3.9 overnight household mark but a lesser 1.9 adults 18-49 rating. The 10/11 Bill Hader-Hozier episode, meanwhile, drew a 3.8 household rating and a 1.8 in the demo.

Amy Adams hosts and One Direction performs on next week’s episode, which is the last original of 2014.
