Update: Fifth Harmony Taping Performance on 12/9 “TODAY;” Jennifer Nettles Added

Update 2: Fifth Harmony’s “TODAY” performance will air on the Christmas Day episode.

Update: The see-saw of anticipation continues.

Last week, NBC announced Fifth Harmony for the 12/9 “TODAY” Show. Per the network’s official listings, the five girls were to appear as “celebrity elves” in support of the show’s annual toy drive.

Buzzworthy in any circumstance given the act’s passionate fanbase, the news was particularly compelling due to the fact that Austin Mahone, with whom 5H member Camila Cabello had recently ended a romantic relationship, was also booked for the show.

This Friday morning, an updated set of listings included no mention of the season two “X Factor” act. Country artist Jennifer Nettles was listed as that day’s toy drive participant.

While Nettles will indeed be functioning as the 12/9 “celebrity elf,” Fifth Harmony will be involved with that day’s production.

“Jennifer Nettles will be at the Today Toy Drive on the 9th, [but] Fifth Harmony is booked for a post-taped song that day,” a representative for NBC tells Headline Planet.

She adds, “[The performance] is being taped that day to air on a later broadcast.”

A representative for Epic Records, meanwhile, adds that the originally advertised appearance did not work due to scheduling.  Fifth Harmony will tape its “TODAY” show segment later that day; it will air as part of a future episode.

A “TODAY” show listing that generated immense buzz has been changed.

NBC, which last week announced girl group Fifth Harmony for the 12/9 edition of its morning show, no longer features the act on its official schedule.

Last week’s briefing said the five Fifth Harmony members would serve as “celebrity elves” for the Today Toy Drive. Issued to the press Friday morning, an updated listing positions country artist Jennifer Nettles as the 12/9 toy drive participant.

Headline Planet is working to clarify the details behind the change to the official listing and whether fans can expect a Fifth Harmony appearance on a different date.

Previously advertised names like Austin Mahone and Carrie Underwood remain scheduled for the 12/9 edition of “TODAY.” Given his romantic past with Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello, last week’s billing of his involvement alongside Fifth Harmony’s appearance made significant waves.
