Lorde’s “Yellow Flicker Beat” to Get Pop Radio Push (Updated)

Update: While “Yellow Flicker Beat” remains in the mix at alternative and in possession of traction at hot adult contemporary, news of its pop push has been removed from Republic’s radio promotions website.

It is presently unclear whether the planned pop impact has been scrapped or being switched to a new date.

And the “Yellow Flicker Beat” goes on.

Benefiting from the release of the movie and high-profile appearances on the American Music Awards and “The Tonight Show,” the lead single from Lorde’s “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” is back in the game.

Come January, that game will include a push at pop radio.

Republic confirmed this week that Lorde’s “Yellow Flicker Beat,” which had previously been promoted to alternative and triple A radio (where it peaked in the top ten), will go for pop adds on January 6.

The confirmation comes on the heels of the song’s ascent into the top twenty of iiTunes’ all-genre single sales chart and rise to a new peak of #65 on the all-encompassing Billboard Hot 100.

The introduction of Lorde’s “Yellow Flicker Beat” into the promotional mix changes the previously announced impact schedule for Republic’s tunes. Its January lineup now looks as follows:

1/6 – Lorde’s “Yellow Flicker Beat,” Avicii’s “The Nights”
1/13 – Nicki Minaj’s “Bed of Lies (featuring Skylar Grey),” Colbie Caillat’s “Try”
1/20 – Tove Lo’s “Not on Drugs,” Sheppard’s “Geronimo”
