Two contemporary versions of the winter classic “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” are currently being promoted to radio, and both are already in the top ten at adult contemporary radio.
Benefiting from the format’s annual affinity for holiday songs, Idina Menzel’s “Baby, It’s Cold Outside (featuring Michael Buble)” and Seth MacFarlane’s “Baby, It’s Cold Outside (featuring Sara Bareilles)” will both reach the top ten on Mediabase’s official adult contemporary airplay chart.
To be formally published Sunday evening, the chart will reveal that Menzel’s version rises eight places to #6 this week. It received 705 spins during the November 23-29 tracking week.
Sixth based on airplay, the Menzel version is actually #1 based on audience. The song’s weekly impression count of 5.14 million was the format’s largest.
While its audience impression count of 1.05 million is not remotely comparable, the Seth MacFarlane’s version received enough spins to reach the #10 position at Mediabase. Up ten places this week, it commanded 369 plays during the 11/23-29 tracking period.
