Charli XCX’s “Break the Rules” Goes Top 30 at Pop, Ella Henderson Hits Top 40

It has not moved nearly as quickly as foretold by its early traction, but Charli XCX’s “Break the Rules” is finally beginning to make a dent at pop radio.

The follow-up to multi-week #1 “Boom Clap” reaches the top thirty this week on the strength of 2,326 weekly spins.

According to Mediabase, that spin count for the November 2-8 tracking period positions “Break the Rules” at #29 on its official pop radio airplay chart. That represents a six position gain for the song, which grabbed the #35 spot on last week’s listing.

Other new top thirty entries this week include Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” (up fifteen places to #16), Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” (up nine places to #25), David Guetta’s “Dangerous (featuring Sam Martin)” (up four places to #28) and Kendrick Lamar’s “i” (up three places to #30).

New top forty entries include Ella Henderson’s “Ghost” (up six places to #35), Jessie J’s “Burnin’ Up (featuring 2 Chainz)” (up four places to #38), Selena Gomez’ “The Heart Wants What it Wants” (debuts at #39) and Trey Songz’ “Touchin’, Lovin’ (featuring Nicki Minaj)” (up four places to #40).
