“Nightcrawler” Narrowly Tops “Ouija” to Win Weekend Box Office

Based on estimates, a mere $9,000 separates the weekend’s number one film from the number two film.

That $9,000 margin is favorable to “Nightcrawler,” which is currently listed as the weekend box office victor.

New release “Nightcrawler” earned $10.909 million to charge ahead of “Ouija,” which won last week’s race. It added $10.900 million to its total this weekend.

Because the margin of victory is so minuscule, it is possible the pecking order could change in Monday’s final report.

Regardless of what happens at the top of the order, former “Fury” will hold at #3 this week. It earned $9.100 million.

“Gone Girl” and “The Book of Life” then complete the top five with $8.8 million and $8.3 million.

Outside of “Nightcrawler,” notable new releases included “Before I Go to Sleep” ($2.025 million, #14) and the 10th Anniversary “Saw” re-issue ($650,000, #20).
