For nine consecutive weeks, the top two spots on the Billboard Hot 100 have belonged to Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” and Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass.”
This week, both get new representation on the chart.
“Welcome to New York,” the final instant gratification release from Swift’s “1989,” opens at #48 on the all-encompassing breakdown. While that cannot compete with the #18 debut attained last week by previous instant gratification release “Out of the Woods,” it will doubtfully upset a Taylor Swift who learned her “1989” sold more than 600,000 copies in its first day of release.
Trainor, meanwhile, adds a new Hot 100 entry to the mix with “Lips are Movin.” The song, which is already a Top 40 hit on Mediabase’s pop radio chart, arrives at #93.
