BANKS’ “Beggin for Thread” Scores “On the Verge” Boost at Alternative

The alternative genre’s worst-kept secret is formally out. Singer-songwriter BANKS’ “Beggin for Thread” is the latest selection for iHeartRadio’s “On the Verge” program.

The track, which is already up to #26 on Mediabase’s rolling alternative airplay chart, follows in the golden footsteps of previous “On the Verge” selections like KONGOS’ “Come with Me Now,” Vance Joy’s “Riptide” and Milky Chance’s “Stolen Dance.”

In addition to ultimately reaching the peak of the alternative airplay chart, all three songs made–or are beginning to make–noise on the pop and hot adult contemporary formats.

“Beggin for Thread” takes over for Death from Above 1979’s “Trainwreck 1979,” which is at a peak of #11 on the Mediabase chart.

The iHeartRadio “On the Verge” program guarantees each selection a minimum of 150 spins (with the expectation that the song will ultimately receive far more) from every iHeartMedia station within a given genre. Responsible for some of 2014’s biggest musical success stories, the program gives its selections instant–and meaningful–exposure on some of radio’s most influential stations.

Earlier Monday, iHeart revealed that RaeLynn’s “God Made Girls” is the newest selection at country radio. Nick Jonas’ “Jealous” is currently enjoying the boost at pop.
