Now that Jason Aldean’s “Old Boots, New Dirt” opened with sales of 278,000 and Florida Georgia Line’s new “Anything Goes” is tracking for a tally in the neighborhood of 190,000, Eric Church is an underwhelming Garth Brooks total away from officially claiming the year’s best debut sales total for a country artist.
Responsible for 288,000 first-week sales this past February, Church’s “The Outsiders” thus far owns the year’s best opening week total for a country album and second best overall (only Coldplay’s “Ghost Stories” got off to a hotter start). Through the Q3 2014, it boasted a cumulative sales total of 722,000, which was the best for any album first released this year.
The country singer-songwriter is nonetheless not done pushing his album, and the latest component of that push is a performance on NBC’s “The Tonight Show.”
Church takes the stage on Wednesday’s edition of the Jimmy Fallon-hosted talk show. Also on the episode are Shailene Woodley, Michael Shannon and Lenny Pickett.
Taped Wednesday afternoon, the episode airs on NBC at 11:35PM ET. Photos from the taping follow. A video of Eric Church’s performance is also below:
