Ratings: The CW’s “The Flash” Crushes “Arrow” Premiere (Updated)

Update 2: Thanks to an upward adjustment, the premiere of The CW’s “The Flash” lands at a 1.9 adults 18-49 rating with 4.79 million viewers in the final live + same-day ratings report. Both numbers convincingly top those posted by the 2012 launch of “Arrow,” which drew a 1.3 and 4.14 million viewers.

The CW led out of Tuesday’s “Flash” with “Supernatural” (1.1 rating, 2.48 million).

==========

Update: Easily besting the marks earned by the 2012 premiere of “Arrow,” The CW’s “The Flash” drew an impressive 1.8 adults 18-49 rating with 4.50 million viewers.

“Arrow” garnered a 1.3 rating with 4.14 million viewers for its fall 2012 launch.

“The Flash” gave The CW a rare third-place finish in the 8PM hour.  Only CBS’ “NCIS” and NBC’s “The Voice” outdrew The CW’s new offering.

— The CW followed Tuesday’s “Flash” premiere with “Supernatural” (1.2, 2.79 million).

After scoring modest ratings for the season premieres of “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” and a downright disappointing one for the “Reign” opener, The CW finally received some exciting news in the ratings department.

“Arrow” spin-off “The Flash” attracted immense interest for Tuesday’s premiere.

The series premiere episode, which aired at 8PM, drew a strong 3.4 overnight household rating. Not large within the broader television arena (though it did best the numbers delivered by ABC and FOX in the hour), the number is massive by The CW standards.

More than double what “The Originals” delivered in the timeslot last year, the number even bests the 3.0 drawn by the “Arrow” series premiere in 2012. That translated into a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating with 4.14 million viewers.

If “The Flash” premiere attracted a similarly large viewership–and that number will be revealed by noon–it will likely end up ranking as the year’s most-watched CW telecast.

— “Supernatural,” which aired out of “The Flash,” drew a 1.9 overnight household rating.
