Pop Listeners Love Mr Probz’ “Waves,” Like Taylor’s “Shake it Off”

The latest round of Mediabase audience Callout Research is available, and it provides a very flattering portrait of Mr Probz’ “Waves.”

“Waves,” which is finally beginning to make a run on the pop radio airplay chart, received the highest positive score (69.8%), the lowest negative score (11.7%)–and thus the highest net positive score(58.1%)–in the 9/5 National Callout report.

Because its familiarity level is a relatively low 63.8%, there is still an opportunity for “Waves” to trend downward on the Callout system. But the hot start certainly speaks favorably–and optimistically–about its resonance with listeners.

Also new to the report this week is Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off,” which boasts the report’s 12th-best positive score (61.5%), 8th-lowest negative score (21.1%) and 8th-best net positive score (40.4%).

Since “Shake it Off” already carries a familiarity level of 83.2% (the eleventh-largest), the song’s favorable reception–61.5% positive, 21.1% negative and 40.4% net positive–comes with a decent degree of certainty.
