There must be something “Cool” about the Top 15, because as of this weekend, Echosmith’s breakthrough single is fitting in there on two separate charts.
With 2,296 spins between August 9 and August 15, Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” jumped to #15 on Saturday’s edition of the Mediabase Hot Adult Contemporary rolling airplay chart. Boosted by the “On the Verge” program earlier this summer, “Cool Kids” continues to make a splash at the important radio format.
But that is not the only splash the song is making. The song also recently entered the Top 15 on the iTunes overall single sales chart.
After a lengthy stint between #21 and #35, “Cool Kids” officially jumped into the Top 20 this week. It continued that ascent with a rise to #15 this weekend.
Currently pacing about 4% behind Maroon 5’s #14 “Maps,” “Cool Kids” could presumably move higher very soon. The aforementioned exposure at Hot AC and rapidly growing exposure at pop radio, where it is the #23 song and due to imminently flirt with entry into the Top 20, will only help matters.
— Jeremih’s “Don’t Tell ‘Em (featuring YG),” is also enjoying simultaneous success at pop radio and on iTunes. Currently the fifth greatest airplay gainer at pop (where it is #28 on the airplay chart), “Don’t Tell ‘Em” has advanced to #22 on the iTunes Overall Single Sales chart.
A multi-format smash, the Jeremih song is #1 at rhythmic radio and #4 at urban.
