Dierks Bentley now has a much better reason to get “Drunk on a Plane” — his single is country radio’s most-played song.
“Drunk on a Plane,” the follow-up to his smash “I Hold On,” has officially advanced to the #1 spot on Mediabase’s rolling country airplay chart.
With 7,567 spins between August 8 and August 14, “Drunk” received slightly more airplay than Brad Paisley’s #2 tune “River Bank.” That song received 7,323 plays over the same period.
While “River Bank” is now gaining airplay at a faster rate, “Drunk” is expected to hold onto the #1 position through Sunday, when Mediabase issues its official, published airplay report.
Lee Brice’s “I Don’t Dance,” which ruled the chart last week, ranked third over the measured period with 7,107 spins.
“Drunk on a Plane” also leads the country format for audience. With 54.18 million impressions, it reached a larger pool than “I Don’t Dance” (51.71 million) and “River Bank” (51.54 million).
Other top 5 songs include Lady Antebellum’s #4 “Bartender” and Tim McGraw’s #5 “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s (featuring Faith Hill).”
