Ariana Grande’s “Break Free” Hits Top 10 at Pop

While the excitement over her “Bang Bang” collaboration with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj seemingly made some fans and media outlets forget about it, Ariana Grande’s “Break Free (featuring Zedd)” is very much on the radar of radio programmers.

With a week-over-week spin gain of 728, “Break Free” ranked as pop radio’s 10th-most-played song for the seven days ending August 10. According to Mediabase, it received 8,173 spins and 51.01 million audience impressions during that period.

To get to the top ten, “Break Free” had to leapfrog Iggy Azalea’s declining “Fancy (featuring Charli XCX).” That song, which also made room for Clean Bandit’s rapidly rising “Rather Be (featuring Jess Glynne),” rises to the #11 position.

Based on its current rate of growth (+1100 weekly spins), “Rather Be” might actually overtake “Break Free” in the coming days. With OneRepublic’s #9 “Love Runs Out” expected to soon fall out, however, both tracks should claim top ten spots by the end of the week.
