Consistent with forecasts, Paramore’s “Ain’t it Fun” launched into the top five of the Mediabase rolling Top 40 airplay chart.
The song, which is the greatest airplay gainer within the top ten, rocketed past Pharrell’s declining “Happy” (now #7) and Katy Perry’s declining “Dark Horse (featuring Juicy J)” (now #6) to complete the move.
In the coming days, the song, which was the 5th-most-played song at pop for the seven days ending May 10, should also charge past American Authors’ current #4 occupant “Best Day of My Life.” That song, while still technically rising, is nearing the end of its growth cycle at the Top 40 format.
Other radio moves:
— Justin Timberlake’s #3 song “Not a Bad Thing” will soon move past Jason DeRulo’s “Talk Dirty (featuring 2 Chainz)” to score the #2 position.
— Iggy Azalea once again owns the two fastest-rising songs at Top 40. Today’s update, however, is more favorable to her own track than the one possessing her guest appearance. “Fancy (featuring Charli XCX)” was the greatest airplay gainer for the seven days ending May 10. Ariana Grande’s “Problem” (featuring Iggy Azalea)” was second.
The songs are currently at respective positions of #12 and #21 on the Mediabase airplay chart.
— After reaching the Top 40 for the seven days ending May 9, Lorde’s “Tennis Court” slips back a spot in the May 4-10 measurement. My Crazy Girlfriend’s “Crazy Stupid Love” claims the #40 position for the frame.
