Update: The overnight ratings uptick successfully carried over to the adults 18-49 demographic.
Thursday’s “Scandal,” the third season’s penultimate episode, garnered a 3.0 adults 18-49 rating. Up from last week’s episode, which posted a 2.9 in the finals, the number topped the combined ratings for CBS’ “Elementary” and NBC’s “Parenthood.”
The episode’s viewership average clocked in at 9.23 million.
Earlier in the night, ABC offered “Shark Tank” (1.7 with 6.85 million viewers) and “Grey’s Anatomy” (2.6 with 8.18 million).

Promoted around a bomb threat–which did not fully materialize in the episode–Thursday’s edition of “Scandal” enjoyed slight growth in the overnight metered market ratings.
After posting a 6.4 overnight household number last week (which translated to a 2.9 adults 18-49 rating with 9.13 million viewers in the Nielsen finals), the buzzworthy ABC drama enjoyed an improved 6.6 overnight household rating for this week’s “Flesh and Blood.”
Earlier in the night, ABC scored with a special 8PM airing of “Shark Tank.” While the broadcast’s 4.9 overnight household rating was not competitive with the 8.5 averaged by CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” and “The Millers,” it more than doubled the 2.3 delivered by last week’s “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” finale.
“Grey’s Anatomy,” which occupied the 9PM slot on ABC’s schedule, matched last week’s 6.0 household rating.
