Cage the Elephant, Foster the People Lead Slow Week at Alt Radio

With high-profile tracks like The Black Keys’ “Fever” and Bleachers’ “I Wanna Get Better” firmly established in the alternative radio system, the format was very quiet this week.

According to Mediabase, it took only six pickups for Cage the Elephant’s “Take it or Leave It” to reign as alt radio’s most-added song for the week. Foster the People’s newly impacting “Best Friend” followed with five adds.

A quartet of songs–Arctic Monkeys’ “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High,” Broods’ “Bridges,” Lorde’s “Glory and Gore” and SomeKindaWonderful’s “Reverse”– tied for the next position with four adds each.

Save for the quickly rising “Reverse” (#43 for the trailing seven days), all four songs had already entered the format’s top forty. The AM song was #19 for the trailing seven days, Lorde’s follow-up to “Team” was #21 and The Broods’ “Bridges” was #35.

With three adds each, the other top eleven most-added alt tracks included Beck’s “Blue Moon,” Big Data’s “Dangerous,” Birds of Tokyo’s “Lanterns,” Sir Sly’s “Gold” and Three Days Grace’s “Painkiller.”

Mediabase’s public report did not list adds for The Crystal Method’s “Over It (featuring Dia Frampton),” which was due to impact alt radio this week. You Me at Six’s impacting “Room to Breathe” scored one.
