It was a good day to be a Chicago-based NBC drama.
The Peacock Wednesday confirmed that sophomore drama “Chicago Fire” and its freshman spin-off “Chicago PD” will be returning next season.
While neither is a ratings smash, both are competitive in their timeslots (“Fire,” airing Tuesdays at 10PM, often wins in adults 18-49) and have demonstrated stability.
Friday drama “Grimm,” meanwhile, has been booked for all-important fourth season (also known as the “syndication season”). It continues to reign as Friday’s top scripted series in adults 18-49.
NBC had previously renewed “The Blacklist” (for season 2), “Parks & Recreation” (for season 7), “The Voice” (for season 7), “(Celebrity) Apprentice” (for season 14) and “The Biggest Loser” (for season 16).
