Lorde’s “Team” Hits Number One on Top 40 Radio

Promotional attention might be shifting to her new single “Glory and Gore,” but that does not mean Lorde’s hit single “Team” is out of the game.

According to Mediabase, the follow-up to international smash “Royals” was the most-played song at mainstream Top 40 Radio this past week. Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse (featuring Juicy J),” the previous leader, slipped to number three, while Pharrell’s red-hot “Happy” surged two places to the number two position.

Based on its rate of ascent, “Happy” could quickly usurp the throne from the Lorde single.

Though it gained more spins, Bastille’s “Pompeii” slipped from third to fourth. Jason DeRulo’s “Talk Dirty (featuring 2 Chainz)” holds tight at number five.

Other notable climbers:

— John Legend’s “All of Me” advanced from number twelve to six
— Aloe Blacc’s “The Man,” last week’s #11 song, surged into the top ten (#8)
— Demi Lovato’s “Neon Lights” moved from thirteen to eleven
— American Authors’ “Best Day of My Life” improved from eighteen to fourteen
— Justin Timberlake’s “Not a Bad Thing” jumped from twenty six to twenty
— The Chainsmokers’ “#SELFIE” rose from twenty seven to twenty one
— Christina Perri’s “Human” moved into the top fifty (#46, +5)
— New Hollow’s “She Ain’t You” moved into the top fifty (#49, +7)
