The most-watched comedy on television by a country mile, Jim Parsons’ “The Big Bang Theory” is a significantly bigger series than Melissa McCarthy’s “Mike & Molly.”
Unfortunately, host Parsons was unable to drive this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” to stronger ratings than the McCarthy-hosted preceding telecast.
Down from the 2.9 adults 18-49 rating (in the top 25 markets) and 5.4 overnight household rating for the McCarthy’s February 1 episode, this weekend’s “SNL” posted a 2.6 adults 18-49 rating with a 4.6 household number.
The adults 18-49 number is very solid by “Saturday Night Live” standards, and the household rating tops that delivered by five of the previous thirteen telecasts.
But when in the shadow of the hit February 1 edition, Saturday’s “SNL,” which also featured Beck as a musical guest, fails to shine as spectacular.
