Lorde’s “Pure Heroine” Crosses 1 Million Sales; Best Since Adele’s “19”

Lorde’s meteroic rise into the pop elite has already been compared to that of Adele, and a new milestone makes the likeness even more pronounced.

In officially crossing the 1 million sales mark in the US, Lorde’s “Pure Heroine” becomes the first female debut since Adele’s “19” to achieve the feat.

With male and female performers included, it becomes the first debut since Hunter Hayes’ self-titled cut to rise above the million sales bar. Hayes’ album, however, took two years to achieve the feat. Lorde moved a million copies in just five months.

“Pure Heroine” follows Beyonce’s “Beyonce” and Katy Perry’s “PRISM” to become only the third of 2013’s female releases to cross the million mark.
