Lorde’s “Team” Climbs Rock Chart, “Happy” Leads R&B

After suffering a setback with “Unconditionally,” Katy Perry has returned to the top of the music world with smash hit “Dark Horse (Juicy J).”

The song, which leads the Billboard Hot 100 for a third week, also reigns over the Pop Songs chart.

If one looks outside pop, however, he will find some other songs making waves on the latest round of Billboard charts.

Lorde, for instance, continues to silence any notion that her success with blockbuster “Royals” would be a case of one-and-done. Follow-up “Team,” which returns to the top ten of the Hot 100 this week, also spends another week atop the Rock Airplay chart. It cruises to second on Billboard’s “Hot Rock Songs” (behind Passenger’s “Let Her Go,” which usurped the throne from Lorde’s own “Royals”) and spends another week at number two on “Alternative Songs.”

It leads “Adult Alternative Songs” for another week.

Pharrell’s “Happy,” meanwhile, continues to fare just as well in the world of R&B and hip-hop. The single, which is number two on the weekly Hot 100, cruises to the top of Billboard’s “Hot R&B/Hip-HOp Songs” chart. Beyonce’s “Drunk in Love,” which previously held number one, slips to third, while Jason DeRulo’s “Talk Dirty” (featuring 2Chainz) spends another week at number two.

“Happy” also leads Hot R&B Songs.

The world of country belongs to Luke Bryan, whose “Drink a Beer,” an emotional change of pace from the fun “Crash My Party” and “That’s My Kind of Night” leads both the “Hot Country Songs” and “Country Airplay” charts.
