Pitbull’s “Timber” Hits Number One, Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” Climbs

Eminem’s “The Monster (featuring Rihanna)” will not enjoy a fifth week at number one.

As had been expected based on its recent momentum, Pitbull’s “Timber (featuring Ke$ha)” officially usurps the top spot on this week’s Billboard Hot 100.

Also the week’s leader on Billboard’s Digital Songs chart, “Timber” ranks fifth on Radio Songs, second on Streaming Songs and second on On Demand songs.

Previously occupied by “Timber,” the number two spot falls to OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars.” The song, which spent the past few weeks in third place, had already become the band’s best performing effort to date.

(Though “Apologize” is a OneRepublic song, the remix that reached #2 in 2007 was credited to producer Timbaland with OneRepublic as a featured artist)

“The Monster” claims third on the weekly Hot 100, besting Lorde’s “Royals” (#4) and A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera’s “Say Something” (#5).

Quickly erasing the disappointing memory of “Unconditionally,” Katy Perry’s third “PRISM” single “Dark Horse (featuring Juicy J)” surges to number six. Passenger’s “Let Her Go” takes seventh, while Avicii’s “Wake Me Up,” Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” and Imagine Dragons’ “Demons” complete the top ten.
