“Pompeii” Goes Top Ten, Aloe Blacc’s “The Man” Makes Waves

An accomplishment in and of itself, ascending to the Top 10 of iTunes’ Single Sales chart comes with a significant benefit: exposure on the front page of iTunes.

The latest song to reap the reward of that opportunity is Bastille’s “Pompeii,” which officially reached the Top Ten of iTunes’ Overall US Single Sales chart Monday. By early Tuesday morning, the song had already improved to number eight on the definitive digital sales chart.

While Bastille celebrates the big achievement (and its confirmed booking for the 1/25 edition of “Saturday Night Live”), other songs are making their own strides towards the iTunes Top Ten.

“Team,” the follow-up to Lorde’s smash single “Royals,” has ascended to number thirteen on the chart. Aloe Blacc’s “The Man,” meanwhile, has made a push to number fifteen.

One song is also making waves inside the top ten.

Helping to restore the momentum Katy Perry lost with “Unconditionally,” third “PRISM” single “Dark Horse (featuring Juicy J)” has already climbed to number two on the overall single sales chart. Only Pitbull’s “Timber (featuring Ke$ha)” has garnered more paid downloads in the last twenty four hours.

A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera’s “Say Something,” OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars” and Passenger’s “Let Her Go” occupy the balance of the top five.
