Eminem’s “The Monster” Stays at Number One, “Roar” Returns to Top 10

Embodying its title, Eminem’s “The Monster (featuring Rihanna)” extended its Hot 100 leadership reign to four weeks.

Despite losing some ground on the Airplay, Streaming and On-Demand charts, the song’s overall performance was too strong for Pitbull’s runner-up “Timber (featuring Ke$ha).”

Thanks to iTunes gift card redemptions, “Monster,” like many other key songs, enjoyed a surge in digital sales (though still placed second to “Timber” on the Hot Digital Songs chart).

“Timber,” which also gained in sales but slipped in airplay and streams, bested OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars” for second place. Lorde’s “Royals,” benefiting from year-end radio focus, improved to fourth, while A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera’s “Say Something” settled for fifth.

Sixth and seventh stayed with Imagine Dragons’ “Demons” and Passenger’s “Let Her Go,” respectively, while Katy Perry’s “Roar” returned to the top ten at number eight. “Roar,” like “Royals,” was one of the songs to benefit from inclusion in year-end countdowns.

One Direction’s “Story of My Life” and Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” landed ninth and tenth.
