“The Voice” Ratings Down from Last Year’s Finale, “Sing Off” Improves

Its performances might have impressed on iTunes, but part one of the fifth “The Voice” season finale did not wow in the ratings.

The episode, which featured finalists Tessanne Chin, Will Champlin and Jacquie Lee competing for one last time, attracted a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating with 12.7 million viewers.

While enough to give “The Voice” a ratings victory in each of its four half-hour timeslots–and for the night itself–the performance was down from that of the prior two finales.

The final season four performance show, which aired on Monday, June 17, drew a 3.7 adults 18-49 rating with 12.7 million viewers (it posted a 3.5 in the comparable fast national report).

Part one of the season three finale, which aired on Monday, December 17, last year’s comparable evening, attracted a considerably stronger 4.2 with 13.4 million (it posted a 4.1 in the comparable fast national report).

— A one-hour edition of “The Sing-Off,” which followed “The Voice,” drew a 2.2 rating with 7.8 million viewers. Though down slightly from last week’s season premiere, which also aired out of “The Voice,” the rating was up significantly from the last original.

That episode, which aired Thursday, drew just a 1.3 rating.

Receiving lead-in support from “The Voice” makes a considerable difference for the fellow music competition series.
