Blake Shelton’s Streak Ends; “The Voice” Eliminates Cole, James

Come next season of “The Voice,” Blake Shelton will still get to boast about being the NBC series’ winningest coach.

He will not, however, enter the sixth season with a winning streak intact.

After three consecutive–and successful–trips to “The Voice” finals, Blake Shelton will be forced to watch next week’s season five finale without a vested interest. Cole Vosbury, his last remaining contestant, was eliminated from the competition Tuesday.

In ending his winning streak at three, Vosbury’s elmination subjects Shelton to the same fate as teams like the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. Turning a three-peat into a four-peat is simply no walk in the park.

Tuesday’s double elimination also affected coach Adam Levine, who, in waving goodbye to James Wolpert, lost his first contestant since the Top 12 was revealed.

Unlike Shelton, however, Levine will still be represented in the finals. His Tessanne Chin and Will Champlin both advanced to next week’s showdown. Team Christina Aguilera member Jacquie Lee will also be in the mix.
