“Betrayal” Ratings Stabilize for Fourth Episode, Still Look Bleak

Update: “Betrayal” indeed grew slightly this week. The ABC freshman drama drew a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating with 3.6 million viewers for its fourth episode.

Earlier in the night, “America’s Funniest Home Videos” posted a 1.1 with 5.7 million. “Once Upon a Time” delivered a 2.0 with 7.0 million at 8PM, while “Revenge” could only muster a 1.5 with 6.1 million.

The good news: After two weeks of viewership declines, ABC’s “Betrayal” finally stabilized Sunday. Despite facing the usual string of Sunday competition–and an unusually strong Sunday Night Football game–the freshman ABC series actually made a slight gain in the overnight metered market ratings.

The bad news: It ratings remain abysmal.

According to TV Media Insights, “Betrayal” improved by one-tenth to a 2.4 overnight metered market rating. While an upward movement–the show’s first in four episodes–is always welcome, it was nowhere near enough to thrust the series out of its bleak performance predicament.

If its ratings remain in the current ballpark, it has no chance of a second season.

“Betrayal” was not the only series to enjoy a slight weekly gain. Lead-in “Revenge” was up a tick to a 4.2, while 7PM entry “America’s Funniest Home Videos” added five tenths to score a 3.4.

Only “Once Upon a Time,” which slipped slightly to a 4.4, was down.
