FX’s “American Horror Story: Coven” failed to cast a spell on the entirety of its record-setting premiere audience.
After opening to what FX believes will be its largest audience of all time once DVR viewing is calculated, “Coven” turned away 17% of its young adult audience for week two. Wednesday’s episode delivered a 2.5 adults 18-49 rating with 4.51 million viewers.
Still quite strong by its own standards, let alone those of FX, the number nonetheless suggests that the show’s ratings will not be traveling towards the moon as the season continues.
“Coven” was not, however, the only major cable series to slide Wednesday. Though it again edged “AHS” in the cable ratings race, A&E’s “Duck Dynasty” slipped to a season low 2.9 adults 18-49 rating with 7.26 million viewers. Last week’s episode, which, at the time, posted season low viewership, delivered a 3.2 rating with 7.40 million.
