Justin Bieber Debuts “Heartbreaker,” New Song Surges Up Sales Chart

“Music Mondays” are officially underway, which means the rabid community of Beliebers has a new Justin Bieber song into which to sink its teeth.

“Heartbreaker,” that song, bowed early Monday to a warm reception from fans. The straight-ahead R&B jam might possess the vibe of the genre’s hits from the 90s and early 2000s, but for the maturing Bieber, it represents the latest evolutionary phase in his sound.

Far from his most hooky song, the simply-worded chorus (“Don’t tell me I’m a heartbreaker/Cause girl my heart’s breakin'”) should still resonate with his passionately-supportive fanbase. That fanbase is also likely to melt over the song’s spoken-word interlude.

Released to iTunes late Sunday night, the song quickly shot to number two on iTunes’ overall singles chart. Only Lorde’s “Royals” has sold more over the past twenty four hours, and that statistic will likely change as the day charges forward.
