“Miley: The Movement” Scores Decent Ratings for MTV

“Miley: The Movement” was no ratings blockbuster, but given the nature of the special, it performed as well as anyone could have expected.

Tuesday’s airing of the MTV docu-special, which focused on the increasingly-controversial and polarizing Miley Cyrus, scored a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating with 1.56 million viewers.

Though it ranked well below timeslot competitors like “Duck Dynasty” (3.4, 8.05 million) and “Bad Ink” (1.7, 3.69 million), its ratings were solid by the standards of the content genre.

It also did the job of attracting media attention–both before and after its broadcast–at a time when publicity is especially crucial for the singer. Cyrus’ heavily-hyped album “Bangerz” releases next Tuesday.
