ABC’s “Betrayal” Premieres to Soft Ratings

Update: The overnights provided an accurate picture. Though it did not perform as poorly as “Lucky 7,” “Betrayal” was far from a winner with a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating and 5.3 million viewers. Its audience declined at the midway point.

One-time smash “Once Upon a Time” performed acceptably–but underwhelmingly–with a 2.6 and 8.5 million viewers, while “Revenge” began its third season to the tune of a 2.4 rating and 8.0 million.
==========

Due to its poor reviews, minimal buzz and debut opposite Sunday Night Football, “The Mentalist” and the final portion of the “Breaking Bad” finale, the premiere of ABC’s new drama “Betrayal” was in no position to impress.

And it did not. According to TV Media Insights, ABC’s new serialized drama kicked off with a paltry 3.5 overnight metered market rating. Down from even last year’s failed “666 Park Avenue” premiere, “Betrayal” provided no reason to believe it will have a lengthy future at ABC.

Though not a certainty, based on its expected skew, “Betrayal” presumably also struggled in adults 18-49. That demo rating will be available by noon.

Earlier in the night, ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” (5.2) and “Revenge” (5.3) opened their third seasons to considerably weaker numbers than they did their second seasons.
