Merritt Wever Ends Julie Bowen’s Streak, Wins Supporting Actress Emmy

There will be no three-peat for “Modern Family” standout Julie Bowen.

The Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy instead goes to two-time “Nurse Jackie” nominee Merritt Wever, who becomes female from a cable series to win the award.

Bowen, who was nominated alongside her co-star Sofia Vergara, had won the award in 2011 and 2012; “Glee” star Jane Lynch, also a nominee this year, won in 2010.

Others in contention were “30 Rock”‘s Jane Krakowski, “Big Bang Theory” standout Mayim Bialik and “Veep”‘s Anna Chlumsky.
