Its lead actors will go home empty-handed, but Netflix’s breakthrough original series “House of Cards” will not blank at this year’s Emmy Awards ceremony.
Director David Fincher won the Primetime Emmy for his work on the pilot episode, beating out directors from “Boardwalk Empire,” “Breaking Bad,” “Downton Abbey” and “Homeland.”
“Homeland,” however, earned itself the Outstanding Writing trophy for its riveting “Q&A” episode. The late Henry Bromell, who penned the episode, beat out writing efforts on two “Breaking Bad” episodes, a “Downton Abbey” episode and the season’s standout “Game of Thrones” episode “The Rains of Castmere.”
