“The X Factor” Ratings Fall to Series Low

Here’s a haunting reality: CBS has not yet launched the new season of behemoth broadcast comedy “The Big Bang Theory.”

Why so haunting? Thursday’s episode of FOX’s “The X Factor,” which will compete with “Big Bang” for the remainder of its third season, fell to a series low rating anyway.

After getting off to a very poor start last Wednesday, “Factor” had at least shown stability across its subsequent two airings. That stability was erased Thursday; the show dipped to a mere 1.9 adults 18-49 rating with just 6.07 million viewers.

Shows like “The X Factor” tend to suffer ratings declines as their seasons progress, and heavy competition from series like “The Big Bang Theory” will almost certainly exacerbate that issue. Given “X Factor”‘s struggle to perform well in its four “head start” episodes, things are not looking great for FOX’s third season reality series.
