WWE’s “Total Divas” Ratings Hold Against Strong VMAs Telecast

Though it did not hit a series high, Sunday’s edition of E! reality series “Total Divas” arguably delivered the show’s best performance to date.

The episode, the show’s fifth, matched last week’s 0.7 adults 18-49 but attracted an improved audience of 1.46 million viewers.

While last week’s episode likely took a small hit opposite WWE’s Summerslam pay-per-view, this week’s broadcast had to deal with the demographically-relevant and far more ubiquitous MTV Video Music Awards broadcast. Cable’s dominant performer Sunday, the MTV show attracted a strong 5.2 adults 18-49 rating with 10.07 million.

That “Total Divas” could hold against such daunting competition is impressive, a fact made especially clear by how notably “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” suffered against the juggernaut awards show. Sunday’s “Kardashians” fell from a 1.3 rating and 2.74 million viewers to a 1.1 with 2.25 million.
