Thanks to continued digital sales and airplay strength, Robin Thicke’s summer smash “Blurred Lines (featuring Pharrell & TI)” tops the Billboard Hot 100 for a tenth week.
With twice as many chart calculation points as Miley Cyrus’ number two finisher “We Can’t Stop,” “Lines” becomes the first song to spend ten weeks atop the Hot 100 since Rihanna’s “We Found Love.”
In addition to leading the Hot Digital Songs chart with 346,000 new purchases and the On Demand chart with 2 million US streams, “Lines” also achieved a milestone performance on the Hot 100 Airplay chart. It earned its number one position with 227.5 million audio impressions, besting the weekly airplay record it set last week.
Prior to last week’s 219.8 million impression count for “Lines,” Mariah Carey’s “We Belonged Together” held claim to the top airplay week in the chart’s twenty-two-year history with 212.2 million.
Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” ranks third behind the Thicke and Cyrus tracks, topping Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky (featuring Pharrell)” and Jay-Z’s “Holy Grail (ft Justin Timberlake).”
The remainder of the top ten finishers, in order, are Anna Kendrick’s “Cups,” Bruno Mars’ “Treasure,” Zedd’s “Clarity (featuring Foxes),” Capital Cities’ “Safe & Sound” and Maroon 5’s “Love Somebody.”
