Multiple sources reported Wednesday that Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe will depart “Parks & Recreation” midway through the upcoming sixth season.
NBC has yet to confirm their departures, but a variety of television sources say they are indeed official and slated to occur after the season’s thirteenth episode.
An arc in the previous season culminated with Ann and Chris, Jones’ and Lowe’s respective characters, agreeing to have a baby together. One would assume that plan will tie into their impending departures.
As neither NBC nor the talented has commented, it is presently unclear whether the planned departures are driven by creative or business reasons.
Though Jones has been a regular cast member since the show’s genesis, her character has never been a fan or critical favorite. Lowe’s “litrally” was, however, but with Amy Poehler, Aziz Ansari, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza and Nick Offerman continuing to receive raves for their work, there is more than enough talent to fill the void.
