NBC’s “The Voice” was the nightly leader in the adults 18-49 demographic, but for the first time this spring, “How I Met Your Mother” won the head-to-head race.
“Mother”‘s rating surged to a 3.4 demo rating Monday, which defeated the 3.3 “The Voice” delivered in the competitive 8-8:30PM timeslot. The “Mother” episode, its eighth season finale, featured a long-awaited first look at the titular “Mother,” played by Cristin Milioti.
The reality competition did, however, win the head-to-head viewership race in that timeslot, delivering 10.38 million to “Mother”‘s 8.37 million (old-skewing “Dancing with the Stars” was the overall timeslot leader in viewers).
For the entire evening, the two-hour “The Voice” averaged a 3.6 rating. Lead-out “Revolution,” which departs the post-“Voice” timeslot in season two, averaged a 1.9 rating with 5.73 million viewers.
CBS, meanwhile, scored a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating and 7.37 million for a “Big Bang Theory” encore, which led out of “Mother.” “2 Broke Girls” followed with a 2.9 and 8.92 million, while “Mike & Molly” delivered a 2.4 with 8.32 million. “Hawaii 5-0” wrapped up the night with a 1.8 and 7.68 million.
