Breaking: NBC Renews “Community” as ABC Cancels “Happy Endings”

News on the futures “Community” and “Happy Endings,” two of network television’s most rabidly-appreciated comedies, has finally come in, and only one passionate fanbase has cause for celebration.

That fanbase is the one loyal to NBC’s “Community.”

The Peacock confirmed “Community” for a thirteen-episode fifth season Friday, echoing the order that was given to the acclaimed series this past season. It will be interesting to see when “Community” bows for NBC next year; this year’s episodes premiered far later than anticipated, a fact made notable by holiday episodes airing blatantly out of sync with their real-life iterations.

ABC, meanwhile, put its “Happy Endings” to bed. “Happy Endings” showed just enough promise to survive a position on the bubble in 2012 and 2011, but the poor ratings finally caught up to the series this year.
