Based on opening day sales data, Kenny Chesney’s new release “Life on a Rock” is cruising towards a number one finish on next week’s Billboard 200.
Billboard presently forecasts its opening week sales tally at 140,000, which would likely provide a comfortable margin over Michael Buble’s holdover “To Be Loved.”
Though its anticipated total is down from the 193,000 opening week pull for predecessor “Welcome to the Fishbowl,” “Life on a Rock” will likely do what that album could not do in peaking at number one.
Chesney’s album will be the only to make a splash in this light new release week. Randy Rogers Band’s new entry “Trouble,” expected to be the second-best newcomer, is only pacing to move 25,000 units. Billboard did not provide a forecast for “American Idol” runner-up Jessica Sanchez’ “Me, You & The Music,” but it evidently will land below that 25,000 figure.
