Paramore Album Sales Decline, But Number One Debut Still Likely

Absence did not quite make the heart grow fonder for Paramore, but the good news is that the band’s new self-titled release is tracking for a number one debut.

According to Billboard, the album–the band’s follow-up to 2009’s “Brand New Eyes” and first studio release since the departure of founding members Josh and Zac Farro–is pacing for approximately 110,000 opening week sales. That should be enough for a number one debut on next week’s Billboard 200.

“Eyes,” which fell short of number one in a competitive release week, moved 175,000 copies in its first frame.

— Buzz over “Accidental Racist,” meanwhile, will not be enough to help Brad Paisley’s “Wheelhouse” avoid a major decline from its predecessor’s sales mark. The new album is pacing for 80-100,000 debut week sales, down from the 153,000 moved by 2011’s “This is Country Music.”
