“The Following” Ratings Bounce Back, “How I Met,” “2 Broke Girls” Win Night

After two weeks of decline, ratings for FOX’s “The Following” ticked upwardly Monday, sending a very optimistic message about the show’s hopes of survival.

It has not yet dealt with NBC’s “The Voice,” but with what is increasingly looking like a steady following, it seems poised to hold up respectably when that does happen.

Monday’s episode drew a 2.9 adults 18-49 rating with 8.31 million viewers. Notable is the fact that its demographic number increased at the half-hour mark.

Earlier in the night, FOX’s “Bones” delivered a 2.1 rating with 8.32 million viewers.

Despite a strong performance from “The Following” (and an even stronger one from ABC’s “The Bachelor,” which averaged a 3.0 rating across its two hours), the nightly demo race belonged to CBS’ comedies “How I Met Your Mother” and “2 Broke Girls.”

Both achieved a 3.4 adults 18-49 rating; the latter did slightly better in viewers, besting “Mother”‘s 8.85 million with 10.11 million.

“Rules of Engagement” (2.8 rating, 8.14 million) aired between the two, while “Mike & Molly” closed the comedy block with a 3.1 and 10.33 million.

“Hawaii 5-0” ended CBS’ night with a 1.9 and 9.00 million viewers.
