Without the previous timeslot occupant’s large personalities–and debuting in an era long after “Jersey Shore” had run its course–there was no chance “BUCKWILD” was going to set records with its premiere Thursday.
But once one accounts for that reality, he has to be at least mildly impressed with the show’s performance. With a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating and 2.49 million viewers, the series got off to a decent start.
The lack of post-show buzz suggests “BUCKWILD” will not grow the way “Shore” did after its poorly-rated series premiere (an oft-forgotten fact), but if the show holds in this general ballpark, it will be considered a success.
The premiere ratings, in the same territory as the latter episodes of “Jersey Shore,” are also on par with recent episodes of already-renewed “Catfish” and actually ahead of what “Snooki & JWoww” delivered for the bulk of its first season run.
