ABC host Jimmy Kimmel has spent many years building a loyal following, and the network is now ready to launch him into battle against the reigning kings of late night.
Beginning in January 2013, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” will move to the more traditional 11:35PM timeslot, where it will contend with NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman.”
Since 2003, “Kimmel” has begun at around midnight in between the other networks’ flagship late-night broadcasts and lead-out offerings, which presently star Jimmy Fallon and Craig Ferguson.
“Nightline,” which currently airs at 11:35PM as a lead-in to “Kimmel,” will move to 12:35AM in January.
