“Raising Hope,” “New Girl” Ratings Survive Without “Glee”

FOX’s comedy lineup did not dazzle Tuesday, and it was not without weak links, but at the end of the day, it at least managed to stay afloat without “Glee” in the mix.

“Raising Hope” opened with a respectable 2.1 adults 18-49 rating and 4.8 million viewers. Though far from an overly impressive showing, especially since main competition “NCIS” and “Last Man Standing” were in re-runs, it is not too far from the show’s usual 9:30PM performance, which includes lead-in support from a “Glee”-fueled “New Girl.”

“I Hate My Teenage Daughter” followed with a more-troubling 1.6 and 3.8 million. Of note, however, is the fact that its demo rating defeated that of an original episode of ABC’s “Cougar Town,” which only mustered a 1.5 and 4.4 million.

At 9PM, “New Girl” delivered a 3.0 and 6.0 million. Like the “Raising Hope” number, this performance was also not far off from what the show does when it benefits from a much-stronger “Glee” lead-in.

The season premiere of “Breaking In” fell flat at 9:30, however, managing just a 1.7 and 3.6 million.
