Tim Tebow’s Broncos, Steelers Pull Massive Rating for AFC Wildcard Game

Ratings for Saturday’s NFL Playoff games were reportedly a tad short of spectacular, but the same cannot be said for Sunday’s battle between the Tim Tebow-led Denver Broncos and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Based on the overnight metered market ratings, that compelling game, decided in overtime in favor of the underdog Broncos, was the best-performing AFC Wildcard contest in decades.

That is at least the word, according to Sports Business Journal’s John Ourand, who Tweeted, “Tebow pulled in a 25.9 overnight, which would make it the best AFC Wildcard overnight since 1988.”

Primetime data from TV Media Insights seemingly backs up the lofty figure, noting that the peak 7:30-8PM segment averaged in the ballpark of a 30 rating with a monstrous 46 national share.
